VETUSTUS
VETUSTUS is an independent IRC/XDCC project created by VxD aka DEATHJ0KER, bringing decades of IRC scripting and software development into a new desktop and mobile environment.
The project keeps the flexibility of IRC while rebuilding the experience around modern interfaces, XDCC downloads, DCC file transfers, multimedia tools and dedicated desktop and Android applications.
Modern IRC
Servers, channels and private conversations organized inside a modern interface.
XDCC
Package downloads, queues and transfer controls integrated into the client.
DCC
Direct file transfers remain part of the native IRC workflow.
Desktop + Mobile
A shared VETUSTUS identity across Windows and Android.
VETUSTUS Desktop
The Windows edition is the core of the VETUSTUS ecosystem. It combines IRC networks, channels, queries, XDCC downloads and DCC transfers inside a unified interface designed around everyday IRC use.
Download management is no longer a separate afterthought. Transfers, queue status and downloaded content become part of the same working environment used for IRC communication.
XDCC Download Manager
Packages can be added to the download queue and monitored directly from VETUSTUS, including transfer status, progress, pause and resume controls.
Multimedia
Compatible media can be opened directly from the VETUSTUS environment, while unsupported formats can fall back to the system media player.
VETUSTUS Micro Android
VETUSTUS Micro extends the project beyond the desktop. Rather than simply shrinking the Windows interface, the Android edition reorganizes the experience around touch interaction and smartphone-sized displays.
The result keeps the visual identity of VETUSTUS while creating a lighter mobile environment for users who want access to the project away from their desktop system.
Designed for mobile
The mobile interface reorganizes navigation and controls specifically for smartphone use while keeping VETUSTUS visually connected to the desktop project.
From mIRC scripting to VETUSTUS
VETUSTUS is also the continuation of a much longer development path. VxD has worked with IRC scripting and custom interfaces since the early 2000s, experimenting with ways to extend and redesign traditional IRC clients.
Projects including Necronomicon, Tables and DCX-based interfaces provided the technical groundwork that eventually evolved into the VETUSTUS project.
